About Dead Authors Club
We retell classic short stories in a few minutes each, acted by a small troupe of plush cats.
The stories are ones people meet in school and never quite forget: Chekhov's The Bet, Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, Premchand's Namak ka Daroga and Shatranj ke Khiladi, Stockton's The Lady, or the Tiger? and Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes.
Each retelling moves the story somewhere new, a TV studio, a startup keynote, a New York block, but keeps the original's plot, its turn and its ending. Each page on this site starts with a faithful summary of the original, so you can tell exactly what we changed.
Every story comes in English and Hindi. New Shorts go up on YouTube every day, and a new full story most weeks.
The troupe
Pistachio, the nervous little one. Baron Plum, who plays bosses, bankers and kings. Soot, for villains and cynics. Mustard, Bluebell and Pip, for everyone else.
